Christmas is Coming

November Use Your Stash Blog Hop - Decor Items

This month, our hop theme is Home Decor and Close to my Heart has a number of beautiful items to use as a base. I chose the Magnetic Chalkboard (Z2006) for my project. So how did I choose to use this frame? I made a Countdown Calendar! So far it only for Christmas, but I will also make countdown themes for Valentine's Day, Easter, Summer Vacation, and Halloween. Maybe birthdays too. I already have plans for other calendars and will be working on them soon.

If you got here from Shirley's blog, where you will find the complete list of hoppers, you are on the right track. If you get lost along the way, just head back to Shirley and get going again.

It is only five more weeks until Christmas and all of the little ones will be looking forward to Santa's visit! It is so difficult for them to wait once December arrives and a countdown calendar really helps them to be patient.

I used the Yuletide Carol paper pack (X7187B) for this Christmas themed calendar. I cut a 4" piece from the bottom of the fireplace paper and then cut the swirl from the top portion.

I added a few Clear Sparkles (Bulk232) to the holly because it just looked to plain.

The sentiment if from the Frosted Card Workshop (D1562) and stamped in Cocoa, then again in Ruby and New England Ivy Exclusive Inks. I then cut out the DAYS and MERRY and popped them up with foam tape.

I added a strip of Gold Glitter Trim (Z1985) to the top of the Yuletide Carol paper and then some Red Glitz Glitter Gel (Z1484) to the toes of the red striped socks.

The numbers were all stamped with the Handwritten Print Alphabet stamp set (E1030) using Versamark and Gold Embossing Powder (Z668 - this is the old CTMH embossing powder). The words on the black cardstock are stamped with White Daisy Pigment Ink (Z2163).

That's it for this month. Next on the list is Katy's blog and some more beautiful artwork.

If you see anything along the way you would like to add to your own stash, please contact your local Close to my Heart consultant! And please don't forget to leave comments as you go! We love to get your feedback.

What's Christmas without Treats!!

November Cross Canada Blog Hop - Designer Creations

Hard to believe it is nearly Christmas! Only 6 weeks! Wow! This month, we are focusing on the Close to my Heart Designer Creations line of goodies. I chose the Treat Bags for my project as I will be putting candies or cookies (or both) in them as a small Thank You for my customers.

If you got here from Terry Ann's blog, you are on the right track, but if you get lost along the way, just head back to Michelle's blog where you will find the complete list of hoppers.

When I first saw the Designer Creation Treat Bags, I could NOT figure out what to do with them. I saw a paper bag with no possible future. Then I went digging through my Christmas paper and stamps sets and this is what resulted.

The image is stamped with Exclusive Inks Cocoa (Z2114), and coloured with a variety of our Shin Han Touch Twin markers (I will list them at the end). I used Ruby cardstock cut at 2" wide and the Yuletide Carol paper sheet with the music on one side cut at 1 1/2". I cut this so the music was horizontal (second cut. The first was vertical. DUH!) and then layered it on the Ruby. I cut the image close and then popped it up with 3D Foam Tape. The Glitter Gel Red on the berries adds just the right amount of bling.

Here is a list of the Shin Han colours I used:
Leaf Green Z2454
Sap Green Z2463
Marigold Z2457
Golden Yellow Z2452
Cherry Pink Z2450
Carmine Z2448

So that is my contribution for this month. Thanks for hopping along with us! Now hop on over to Kathy's blog for some more beautiful artwork!

Remember, if you get lost along the way, just return to Michelle's blog where you will find the complete list of hoppers!
